The Parish Church of St Lawrence is at the heart of the village and the main home of the festival, hosting our two fine classical concerts.
St Lawrence is the oldest, and we would claim, the most beautiful, building in the borough of Surrey Heath and also the borough’s only Grade 1 listed building. Its earliest features date from Norman times.
Listening to the fine music that the festival brings to Chobham every year is a marvellous way to enjoy the atmosphere of the aisles of St Lawrence. The backdrop of this historic space is an intrinsic part of what makes the festival distinctive. In 2018, the festival held its first event at the smaller church in the Parish, St Saviour, a charming Victorian building in the community of Valley End.
As well as showcasing the wonderful church buildings in Chobham to large audiences, the festival honours the spiritual life of the village with some of our events also being part of the church calendar. The parish Harvest Festival celebration is featured as part of the programme and the festival draws to a close each year with a rousing Songs of Praise service at St Lawrence Church.
