There is a distinct festive spirit about this year’s Saturday Festival Concert, which presents an array of soloists with orchestra in some of the best known music from the Baroque era. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.2 is noted for it’s dazzling writing for the various soloists, especially the high trumpet part, and the same composer’s famous Concerto for two violins and strings is one of the greatest pieces of music from this period. Handel’s ‘Water Music’is another Baroque favourite and the programme will also feature concertos for trumpet and oboe.
Programme to include:
J.S.BACH: Brandenburg Concerto No.2
HANDEL: Water Music (excerpts)
J.S.BACH: Concerto for Two Violins
Ruth Contractor (oboe, pictured)
